I am addicted to soda and everyone in my life knows that I am a complete and total soda addict. I simply cannot drink just one soda. Even though I am fully aware that diet soda is extremely bad for you, I almost wish I was able to drink it just so I wouldn’t consume all of the calories in regular soda. It’s not all that I drink. I do drink other things such as coffee, milk, tea, etc. Did anyone else notice that I failed to mention water? Well, that’s because I drink very little of it. And yes, I am well aware how bad that is for you.
In case you didn’t know, soda has no nutritional value and no health benefits. It also contains a large amount of calories and sugar. Each 12 oz soda that we consume has 140 calories and 39 grams of sugar. Most days, on my way to work, I stop at the local gas station and grab a 32 ounce Mountain Dew. That will last me most of the day but then after I get home from work, I usually grab some more soda in my “special cup.”
If there is soda in the house, I am going to drink it. If my family needs milk, it can wait until the next day. If I m out of soda, I am headed to the store or someone in my family is making a trip for me. Yeah, it’s that bad.
Here’s a little information for you. If you drink 6 cans of soda per day, that’s 840 liquid calories and 234 grams of sugar (A FULL HALF POUND OF SUGAR), not including what you eat per day. If you happen to be inactive and not burning any extra calories, your body weight will increase by as much as 1.5 pounds per week. This explains a lot for me and why my stomach continues to get bigger and bigger. I would say it’s time to stop drinking soda. Does anyone else have this issue?
