Fun-in-the-Sun, beach days are here, which means it’s time to start looking the part with sun-kissed skin. To capture the bronze without the uv-burn, self-tanners are the only sensible way to go these days. Don’t get me wrong, that natural sun tan is great but make sure you stay out of the tanning beds. Am I right Wunder Gurls? Whether you want an instant just-back-from-the-Bahamas tint or a golden glow that lasts as long as your summer vacation,it’s time to check out the best “tans” in a bottle. Plus, read the new golden rules for bronzing.
Tanceuticals CC Self Tanning Body Lotion ($24.95 for 4.2 oz.)– is this year’s favorite self tanner right now and is currently #1 of the best self tanners. The tan it gives is truly gorgeous– a smooth and natural, darker shade of bronze. It’s also easy to apply, dries quickly, feels great on the skin, lasts nearly 7 days and has a wonderful coconut scent.
Adonia Bronzing Glow ($39.00 for 3 oz.) – is a top pick among self tanners you can buy and use at home. This product has quality ingredients, produces nice, long-lasting color, smells great, is easy to apply and dries quickly.
The only downsides is the steep price tag and a bottle that’s only going to get you 2-3 applications (if you’re lucky). But even though it’s very expensive compared to most other self tanners, the results with this product are truly outstanding.
St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse ($40.00 for 8 oz.) – is a favorite for a mousse or foam product and is a perfect choice for shorter-term needs like a vacation, trip to the beach or a night out. This product smells really good, is super easy to apply, and dries extremely fast. The color is good but may be a little light for people who want to look really dark. Overall though, this product is a great choice
Clinique Self Sun Body Tinted Lotion ($23.00 for 4.2 oz.) – is another favorite self tanner. It’s easy to apply, smells pretty good, lasts a long time and produces a nice, bronze color. For most people, this self tanner has everything they’re looking for. The only potential negative of this product is it may not be dark enough for those who like to look super tan. But at a cost per ounce of $5.47, it’s one of the better bargains out there considering how well it works
Fake Bake Flawless ($24.00 for 6 oz.) – is a favorite “liquid” self tanner. There are a lot of great things to love about this product. It not only smells good, but dries super fast and gives a really good, dark color! The only challenge with Fake Bake Flawless is the spray bottle top. Even though the application was challenging, the color, smell, and even glow is really good.
Dior Bronze Self Tanning Crème ($34.00 for 4.3 oz.) – is a really good self tanner. It’s easy to apply, dries quickly and actually smells good. It also produces a very nice “natural looking” shade of bronze, which is what many people are looking for. The only downside with this product may be that it’s not quite dark enough for hardcore self tanners. But overall, this is a great product that the majority of tanners will love!
Xen Tan Dark, Deep Bronze Luxe ($40.00 for 8 oz.) – is ranked #7 among the best self tanners currently on the market. It has a pleasant smell, isn’t too difficult to apply and produces a nice, medium color that will work well for most people. The light tint can be a bit messy during application, so be mindful of that. But overall, this is a very good product.
Vita Liberata Untinted Self Tan Gel ($37.50 for 6.7 oz.) – Great self tanner! The application is very easy and not messy at all, and it has no guide. This product is unique in that there’s virtually no smell, and that includes no DHA or awful perfumes. The color produced is a very even, medium shade. I wish it was a little darker (and cost quite a bit less), but if you’re looking for a natural-looking color, this one is a winner.
Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel ($34.00 for 4.2 oz.) – is still a very good self tanner. On the positive side, it produces some of the best color witnessed to date. On the negative side, it takes forever to dry and is very expensive compared to most other self tanners. Overall, if you’ve got patience and a big wallet, this is a great product to try!
Beautisol Summer Glow ($39.00 for 8 oz.) – produces a very nice bronze color but is a little difficult and messy to apply. The dark tint in this product gets on everything when you’re applying it. And the heavy consistency means you’ll have to work to blend it in. But once you get by that, it smells great and produces a great color that lasts.
If you apply self tanner without wearing gloves, your palms will turn a horrible shade of orange because you’ll be constantly adding more and more self tanner to your palms to rub it into your body. Use gloves to apply it to your body and then, to ensure that your hands aren’t obviously whiter than the rest of your skin, use a foam sponge often used for applying makeup, to apply to the backs of your hands and a bit on your fingers. Just a bit. And stay away from your nails. I hope this helps. If you have any stories or recommendations that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you. Don’t forget to subscribe.
